Ava’s Dream: Skincare That Feels Like Home
I am so excited to finally share these photos and talk about this launch. This photoshoot meant a lot to me, not just creatively, but personally. From the people behind it to the product itself, this is one of those projects that will stick with me forever.

You know what time it is…story time:
I’ve worked with the Black Legacy Advancement Coalition on various projects + events for a few years now, and they are genuinely some of my absolute favorite people to work with. For Women’s History Month this year, Dexter and his team wanted to do something different. Dexter reached out and asked if I would donate a photo session to Mrs. Ava to help her out with an online launch of her product. Of course I said yes.
Shoot day arrived, and I finally met Mrs. Ava and saw her product in person.
And wow. This woman. Her energy, her smile, her laugh, her energy, everything about her lights up the room in the most effortless way. She has that rare presence that makes you feel calm, seen, and happy just by being around her.
Photographing her and her brand felt less like work and more like witnessing something really special in motion. That’s my favorite part about doing what I do as a Metro Detroit Photographer.

We need to talk about this soap for a second because I’m not lying to y’all when I say this is the best soap I’ve ever used in my life. I felt like a brand new version of myself after using it. After all, her soap is skincare that feels like home.
I didn’t feel stripped or dry, just genuinely fresh in a way that made me pause and go, “Oh… this is different.” You can feel the care that goes into it, and it shows up not just in the product but also in the brand's intention.

It’s a reflection of care, legacy, and intention, created by a Detroit wellness advocate and entrepreneur whose presence alone makes you want to slow down and listen.
There are four signature soaps that she offers. Her signature soaps are infused with four subtle scents: Coconut, Lemon, Turmeric, and Bergamot. I personally have the Turmeric one, and I use it all the dang time. I’ll be pre-ordering some more from her shortly.
