Pizza, Photography, and Supporting Small Businesses

If you know me at all, you know one very important fact about me: I love pizza. Deeply. Passionately. Probably more than the average person should.

So when my friend Evan asked if I could photograph apparel for the new clothing brand he started, Skeleton Pizza Supply Co, the answer was obviously an immediate yes.

Skeleton Pizza Supply Co is a skeleton and pizza-inspired apparel and lifestyle brand based right here in Michigan. Evan is in a band called American Arson, and they’re signed to Facedown Records. He’s designed merch for the band for 10 years (maybe more at this point) and while the band is taking a little bit of a break, he wanted a creative outlet.

Here’s more of what he had to say about it: “I slowly realized that an inordinate number of my designs featured skeletons, or pizza, or both. In these very divided times, skeletons and pizza are two things most of us can agree on (we all have a skeleton, and all but the most diabolical psychos among us love pizza). So I started Skeleton Pizza Supply Co. Maybe we can save the world together one slice at a time.”

As a Detroit brand photographer, one of my favorite things to do is help small businesses show off what they’ve built. Whether it’s food brands, musicians, or apparel companies, the right images can make a huge difference in how people discover and connect with a brand online.

Evan is on a mission in 2026 to eat pizza on a stranger’s lawn next to an absurdly large skeleton in all 50 states by the end of 2026. And to eat pizza on a stranger’s lawn next to an absurdly large skeleton on all 52 weekends of 2026.

michigan Apparel Photography for Small Businesses

Photographing apparel for a brand is a little different than traditional product photography. The goal isn’t just to show the item. It’s to show the identity of the brand.

These kinds of images are incredibly important for small brands, especially when they’re selling online. Clean, professional photos help customers understand the quality of the product and give them confidence before they even click “add to cart.” For this brand, they needed to be bold and a little fun too.

As a Metro Detroit photographer, I work with a variety of small businesses who are building something from the ground up. Apparel brands, food brands, musicians, and local companies all need strong imagery to help their products stand out online.

Detroit is full of people creating incredible things. Being able to photograph those projects and help them show their work to the world is one of my favorite parts of this job.

Working With Evan and Skeleton Pizza Supply Co

Evan and I actually met years ago through music. Back when he was playing in one of his earlier bands, we crossed paths briefly, and over the years we stayed connected. When I originally started writing this blog post, I realized that I’ve known Evan for about half of my life at this point, that is wild to me.

It still makes me all fuzzy inside when my friends ask me to take photos for them. So, getting to photograph the apparel for this project felt like a full-circle moment. Music, pizza, creativity, and supporting friends who are building cool things.
